Warming Refrigerated Breast Milk

Warming breast milk is very important in childcare that is why mothers should always concentrate when they are doing this process. Breast milk can lose its nutritive properties if it is not heated properly. Parents never have an idea what happens when warming breast milk via microwave or via stove, they are just thinking of getting the milk to their babies as soon as possible. There is a reliable way of warming breast milk and preserving the baby’s source of nutrients.

The initial thing to do is to look for a bowl made of glass or metal and fill it halfway with water. Take the breast milk bottle, container or storage bag and then place it halfway into the water. Leave the breast milk container and inside the bowl until it warms up. If the warm water-cools down, simply add more warm water until the milk is thawed and reaches the right temperature.  Remove the water container from the bowl if the breast milk has thawed and reached the desired temperature.  Use a paper towel or dry cloth wipe the moistness from the bottle. Pour some of the contents to a spoon and test the breast milk before transferring it to the bottle. Drop some of the milk inside of your wrist and if the temperature is still not cold then continue the process of warming breast milk. If the milk is too warm, then leave the container alone for a few minutes and then test it again using the same procedure. Do this over and over until you get the right temperature. Make sure to test always for the temperature.

Warming breast milk is very important. The body’s temperature is the appropriate temperature of the milk for babies. Such temperature is what Mother Nature destined it to be however if you have excess milk, storing it is another story. It is important that warming breast milk should be exact or precise with the same temperature of the body. As the babies grow old, they can be weaned from warm milk to cold milk when they drink out of a cup.

Words of advice, when storing breast milk, use a glass container.  So one would not have a hard time when warming breast milk.
